Rooted in the philosophy that fantasy is a tool for liberation, UFFG invites staff and campers to reinvent themselves as fantastickal beings to enter a world of make-believe and adventure. Here's what you need to know about this uniquely UU summer camp experience...
There are two layers of adventure in this curriculum; the activities offered during "workshops" (straightforward lessons) and the unfolding narrative arc which participants will shape through their choices during the week.
Participants will experience community building through a mixed-age group presided over by a "Mycelior" (a mentor). In these groups, called "Chambers," participants nourish belonging and comfort in themselves and others.
The curriculum challenges participants and staff alike to hold themselves, each other, and whatever fantastickal folk they meet lovingly accountable to our UU values. This guild treats faith as a skill to be practiced and honed.
This isn't just a summer camp you "run," it's an immersive experience you create in collaboration with the young folks who attend. The curriculum offers ideas for adapting the program to suit your congregation's resources and needs.
Don't panic - the Curriculum Guide will explain everything!
All of the materials you and your camp staff will need to make the magic happen. The Curriculum Guide will show you how to make sense of them all and when / how to use them, don't worry!
